Loving Kindness Meditation

Meditation is a powerful tool to help us connect to our hearts. Every moment that we spend in stillness the more our awareness increases. We become more aware of our surroundings, of our feelings, and of other people’s feelings.

In this meditation I am going to share a meditation technique that helps you connect to and open your heart, Metta Meditation, which is a Buddhist meditation that has existed for thousands of years. Metta, which is Pali, the ancient language of Buddhism, means Loving Kindness.

In this meditation Metta, Loving Kindness, becomes the focus of our attention. We bring Metta into our awareness and send Metta back out of our awareness. This is a form of energy exchange, or Tonglen . Breathing in healing love, transforming, and flowing it back out. This powerful tool draws our attention to what’s coming in and what’s flowing out. We are channels of whatever we breathe in. And we take it in, metabolize it a little, transform it a little, and then allow it to flow back out of us. Meditation allows us to connect to the love within us and to share it. It helps us to be conduits of love.

The power of Metta meditation is that helps us to see our innate kindness and love by placing our attention on the healing of others, on compassion for others, and on loving kindness for others. We do this by connecting to the love the Universe through our breath. We are all conduits of healing, of energy, of love, of abundance.
