Fee  $25

Workshop Description

As we move from winter into spring, we need to prepare our bodies for that transition by releasing the old to welcome the new. The fascial lines along the sides of the torso run both across the body at diagonals and also down the entire body. In this workshop, Kate/Hanspal will guide us through a detoxifying flow of twists and side body opening, making space for the new life that spring brings. Class will open with gentle, full body movement and gradually increase to deeper and more advanced twisting postures. We will close with deep, sidebands and a meditation to set our intention for the season to come. This practice will create freedom and ease throughout the whole body - prepare to unwind and open in this special two hour class!

Kate or Hanspal Kaur tries to offer from her heart in everything she does.

Kate is a senior teacher based in Boston, where she teaches public classes, workshops, retreats and teacher trainings. Trained in Vinyasa, Anusara and Kundalini Yoga, she now studies with Scott Blossom, Chandra Easton and Matt Pesendian. She is deeply honored to be a co-leader of teacher trainings at Back Bay Yoga, and humbled by her students daily.

Along with her husband, Richmond Dickson, Kate founded Open Hearts, a traveling yoga school that offers retreats and teacher trainings both domestically and abroad. Before her return to Boston, Kate lived and taught in New York City and Tallahassee, FL. Kate's greatest life adventures are her partner, Richmond, and their son, Kahlil, born Spring 2009. She learns immeasurably from both of them, as well as her inspiring students.

Kate received her Vinyasa certification from Sonic Yoga in NYC, where she continued her Vinyasa study primarily at Kula Yoga Project in Tribeca and with Sri Dharma Mittra. Kate is also Anusara-Inspired and a certified Kundalini Yoga Instructor.

Her discovery of Anusara yoga came with an injury that required her to take a deeper look at alignment and in that process she found the Tantric non-duality of body and spirit that is present in both Anusara and Kundalini. Kate's Anusara studies have been with John Friend, Darren Rhodes, Noah Maze, Elena Brower and Amy Ippoliti.

Kate's first Kundalini class was with Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa — who, along with Kundalini Yoga, touched her heart and her life. Kate continued to take Kundalini classes at Golden Bridge Yoga with Hari Kaur Khalsa and in August 2008 she attended a one-month intensive teacher training at 'Yogi Bajan's Ranch' with the beautiful Sikh community in Espanola, NM. Since then she has assisted another Level One training as a trainer-in-training with her teachers Guruatma Singh and Prem Pyar Khalsa of Franklin Yoga, in Franklin MA, and hopes to begin her Level Two studies with them this year. kategreeryoga.com
