How to stand tall when you’re tired

Have you ever noticed that when you feel good and things are going well that it is easy to stand tall? It almost feels like you are walking on air. And how hard it is to hold yourself up when you are tired and stressed? You slump, you sink into your hips, your thigh bones pop forward, your shoulders round, and your belly sticks out. It is NOT attractive, not to mention that it hurts your back!! A simple way to get you back on track is to lift your toes and to root from your hip points down through the four corners of your feet. Then lift your arches and energetically draw the muscles of the lower and upper legs into your lower belly. In Anusara Yoga this is called Muscle Energy. It makes you stand tall, it opens up your inner body, it lengthens your spine. You feel light on your feet. Now add what we call in Anusara Yoga your Attitude. That is Inner Body Bright. All you have to do is have a feeling of a warm smile on the inside, or a feeling of a warm embrace. Now you are ready for your day!! *Namaste*
